Innovation Club

Free After-School STEM Program for Grades 3–5

We are proud to introduce Innovation Club, the Reading Science Center’s newest FREE after school STEM program for students in Grades 3–5. Innovation Club provides young scientists with weekly opportunities to investigate, build, experiment, and discover through hands-on STEM experiences. Each session explores a new topic while encouraging students to think creatively, ask questions, and solve real-world problems.

Building on the success of our Sisters in STEM program, Innovation Club expands these opportunities to both boys and girls, creating an engaging environment where curiosity grows into confidence. Students will explore exciting topics including robotics, engineering, chemistry, circuitry, life sciences, and more—all while making new friends and developing skills that will serve them throughout school and beyond.

Engaging Science experiences

Every week brings a brand-new challenge. Innovation Club combines hands-on investigations with collaborative design challenges that encourage students to explore, experiment, and think like scientists and engineers. Some of the experiences students can look forward to include:

  • Robotics & Coding: Program robots, solve engineering challenges, and discover how technology works.

  • Chemistry Creations: Mix, observe, test, and investigate exciting chemical reactions through safe, hands-on experiments.

  • Engineering Design: Build bridges, towers, vehicles, and creative inventions while learning the engineering design process.

  • Circuitry & Electricity: Explore electricity through circuits, conductors, switches, and interactive electronics.

  • Life Sciences: Investigate plants, animals, ecosystems, and the amazing science of living things.

  • Innovation Challenges: Work in teams to solve real-world problems using creativity, persistence, and critical thinking.

Program Details

  • Students in Grades 3-5
  • Cost: FREE
  • Weekly 1.5-hour sessions after school
  • October to December ’26 and February to April ’27
  • Snacks provided
  • Drop-off and pick-up at the Reading Science Center (645 Penn St, Reading, PA 19601)
